GRP Sunshade &
Car Shed

Lightweight, UV-stable glass fibre reinforced plastic sunshade canopies and car parking structures — custom-designed for the GCC climate and engineered to withstand wind, thermal cycling, and prolonged solar exposure without degradation.

INTRODUCTION

Solar shading of outdoor spaces — including car parks, pedestrian walkways, building entrance canopies, and recreational areas — is a fundamental requirement in the UAE and GCC where peak summer temperatures routinely exceed 45 °C and parked vehicles reach interior temperatures above 80 °C within minutes of sun exposure. ESA Technical Services designs and installs GRP sunshade and car shed structures that meet the practical, aesthetic, and structural demands of these extreme environmental conditions.

GRP is the material of choice for shading structures in coastal and industrial environments where the corrosion of steel and aluminium alternatives demands expensive periodic maintenance. Our GRP structures are factory-manufactured in RAL colour-matched gel coat finishes, requiring no painting for the life of the structure, and are engineered to resist wind loads per UAE wind zone requirements.

DESIGN & INSTALLATION
GRP Shade Structure Installation Process – ESA Style
01 Site Survey & Brief Site measured, existing service locations identified, and client brief recorded covering bay count, column positions, required clearance heights, and aesthetic requirements.
02 Structural Design Wind uplift, dead load, and live load (maintenance access) analysed per UAE loading standards. Column, rafter, and panel thicknesses sized accordingly.
03 Factory Manufacture GRP structural sections, roofing panels, and fascia elements manufactured in colour-matched gel coat. Metallic inserts and connection plates embedded during fabrication.
04 Foundation & Column Installation Concrete pad foundations or core-drilled anchor bolt systems installed. GRP columns set plumb and grouted. Anchor bolts torqued to structural design specification.
05 Structural Frame Erection GRP purlins, rafters, and cross-beams assembled to columns using stainless steel connection hardware. Frame alignment verified by survey instrument before roofing proceeds.
06 Roofing Panel Installation GRP roof sheets or translucent panels fixed to structural frame with UV-resistant sealed fixings. All end laps, ridge, and gutter details installed watertight.

KEY BENEFITS
GRP Shade Structure Key Advantages – ESA Style

Zero Corrosion Maintenance

No painting, galvanising top-up, or anti-corrosion maintenance ever required — the gel coat finish is the final protective layer for the life of the structure.

UV-Stable Colour Permanence

UV-stabilised gel coat maintains colour and gloss retention far longer than painted steel or aluminium, avoiding the bleached, faded appearance common to UAE shade structures after 3–5 years.

Lightweight Construction

GRP structures are significantly lighter than steel equivalents, reducing foundation size and cost — particularly advantageous on roof-mounted car park decks.

Design Flexibility

GRP can be moulded into virtually any geometric profile, enabling curved canopy forms, tapered columns, and complex fascia details that are impractical in steel or aluminium.

Rapid Installation

Factory-manufactured components reduce on-site assembly time and minimise disruption to operational car parks and pedestrian areas during installation.

Coastal & Industrial Suitability

GRP performs without degradation in salt-laden coastal air and industrial chemical atmospheres that rapidly corrode conventional metal shading structures.
