Bituminous Membrane
& Coating Systems
APP and SBS modified bituminous waterproofing for roofs, basements, and structural waterproofing across Dubai and UAE.
INTRODUCTION
Modified bituminous waterproofing remains the dominant solution for flat roof waterproofing across the UAE due to its proven performance record, cost-effectiveness, and adaptability to local thermal conditions. Modern APP and SBS modified bitumen membranes deliver 20–25 year service lives on Dubai’s most demanding rooftop environments when correctly applied.

Application Process
Surface Preparation
Concrete substrate clean, dry, and structurally sound. Cracks repaired. Blow holes filled. Slope to drainage verified (minimum 1:80).
Primer Application
Bituminous primer at 0.15–0.25 L/m². Allow to dry tack-free — 30–60 min in UAE conditions.
Critical Zone Detailing
All upstands (min 150mm), penetrations, drains, and movement joints treated with reinforcement strip membrane first.
Base Layer Application
Base sheet unrolled in direction of drainage. Perpendicular laps min 80mm, longitudinal laps min 100mm. Torch applied — laps rolled immediately.
Cap Sheet Application
Cap sheet applied with laps offset min 300mm from base layer. Torch welded with full bond — no voids or bubbles.
Flood Test / Inspection
Ponding test (50mm water depth for 24 hours) or electronic spark test. Defects remedied. Test result documented.
